O bed! O bed! delicious bed!
That heaven upon earth to the weary head.”
-Thomas Hood
My latest baby was a sleeping beauty. It took a few good feedings to get Lady S full but once she was content, there was no stopping her sleep! Every baby has their preferences for certain positions depending on how they curled up inside momma’s womb. Some babies rock the frog position and most babies enjoy dreaming in buckets. But Lady S loved being sprawled on our cute baby bed! So I call Lady S my sleeping beauty – doesn’t she look just like a doll? This was another special session because Lady S and her elder brother come into this world very close in age to my two babies and momma is a good friend. I imagine many fun playdates in the future and am so blessed and honored to be able to capture this special moment for a dear friend.

This little gal made me work but once she finally fell asleep, Lady A was indeed a little angel. I originally wanted to capture a few sibling shots but big bro hit naptime and wasn’t up for photos so dad and big bro had some father and son bonding time while I continued shooting Lady A. When I finally had a chance to shake dad’s hand, I immediately saw that Lady A had her daddy’s eyes – the same color and depth. How cool is that? They do say that daughters are a father’s lover in a past life!

Beautiful Lady A, 5 days new! Every baby I’ve shot this year turned out to be a girl and many with names that start with “A.” It’s so cute! Lady AW was a sweetheart. She slept right away for me and was up to feed in between (completely normal of course! I mean what else are you going to do at 5 days new?). But she definitely loved curling into the soft fur lining of my antique buckets. This was a special session because mom and I have known each other for 20+ years! It’s so nice to be able to do this shoot for mom because these sessions often push my limits at the end and challenge me to capture better images. And Lady A ended her session sleeping so peacefully – absolutely adorable 🙂

We had a lot of fun at this shoot but this was also a challenging shoot because mom really wanted a sibling shot but our sibling was a curious spirit and wanted to explore everything except her baby sister. In the end, we managed to get a few really cute shots after older sister tired herself out but she made us all work hard! 🙂 Lady J was the champion of sleep and pretty much slept through her whole shoot – she was a real sweetheart.
A daughter is the happy memories of the past, the joyful moments of the present, and the hope and promise of the future.
I love shooting newborns and meeting new parents for the first time. That moment we first met, I can see love all over their faces, anxiousness as they just stepped into a realm of new parenthood territory and those first moments of excitement at welcoming a new mini me into the world. Lady A was the sweetest baby girl ever! She gave me lots of beautiful smiles, slept sweetly after getting snuggled and looked like a perfect mini mommy & daddy! We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful session.
