Happy holidays from some of this year’s beautiful babies to you and your loved ones <3 As I review this year’s work, I’ve learned so much about my shooting and processing style. Hoping that I will continue to improve in 2014 and be lucky enough to shoot more cute babies!! <3
We did a self family shoot just in time before this mama gives birth. It took a lot of effort and time – 150 shots for around 10 images that I felt met my expectations. Self shoots are always a challenge because you need to style, think about the shots, lighting, focus in time to some degree and then make sure any toddlers stay still enough not to blur too terribly. But being able to capture this special time was worth all the sweat and tears. The styling for this shoot was classic-themed and the shoot style was lifestyle. Our baby loves playing on the bed with us so I took advantage of shooting during his favorite activity to catch some of his most precious sweet smiles and lively personality.
Being able to design beautiful, custom birth announcements is one of the advantages of hiring Mint Purple Studio to photograph your newborn baby. Here is one of our favorite birth announcements of a recent newborn shoot who arrived just in time for the holidays!

The latest craze of Florentijn Hofman’s Rubber Duck Project in Hong Kong lately inspired me to create a new character called Aoi Ahiru. Aoi in Japanese refers to the blue-green color. Ahiru in Japanese means duck. The name is partially a tribute to one of my favorite Sanrio characters from the early ’90’s Ahiru No Pekkle. Who remembers this cutie? 🙂
Aoi Ahiru has a special story. He was born originally yellow in color but over the course of time his feathers started turning blue green because he ate too many glowing microorganisms while swimming in Okinawa. Soon Aoi Ahiru’s feathers began glowing at night. He often helps lead lost ducklings back to their family.
Come show Aoi Ahiru some love by downloading and sharing his free wallpapers below!
